How to Prepare for Your NDIS Plan Review in Armidale
Plan reviews can feel a bit stressful. You're sitting there worried you won't get what you need, wondering if you've got the right paperwork, hoping the NDIA will understand what you've told them. But they don't have to be that way.
Here's how to actually prepare, so when your review comes around, you're ready and you get the funding you need.
Start Collecting Evidence Early
Don't wait until a week before your review. Start keeping records of what's actually happening. Save invoices from your support providers. If you've got progress reports from therapists or your support coordinator, keep those. If you've got photos that show progress or independence you've built, save them. If your needs have changed, write it down when it happens, not three months later when you're trying to remember.
This isn't about building a perfect case. It's about having real evidence of what you've actually needed and used.
Think About What's Changed
Have your needs gone up or down? Have you reached new goals? Is there something you've been trying to do that hasn't worked and you need to try a different approach? Be honest about it. The review is there to make sure your plan actually works for you, and that can only happen if you're real about what's changed.
Get Your Support Team Involved
Your support coordinator, your therapists, your providers - they see you regularly and they've got important things to say about what you need. Ask them to write a letter or report for your review. Tell them what you're hoping to get more funding for, or what's changed. At Asina, we're happy to provide progress reports for our participants if they're heading into a review. Just ask us.
Know What to Ask For
Be specific. Don't just say you need more support hours. Say you need more support hours for community access on weekends, or you need help with a new skill you're learning. If you need a new service that wasn't in your old plan, write that down. If something in your current plan isn't working, say that too. The more specific you are, the better chance you have of getting what you actually need.
On the Day
Bring everything in a folder. Bring a support person if you want one. Take notes during the meeting so you remember what you asked for and what they said. And remember, if you're not happy with the outcome, you can request a review of the decision. You're not stuck with whatever comes out of the meeting.
