Training that helps you do great support work

Good support workers aren't born knowing how — they're trained, supported and backed by people who've done the job. Asina Academy is our growing training and development program, delivered on the job, in person, in Armidale.

  • Induction and shadow shifts before you ever work solo
  • Standards set by 10+ years of frontline experience
  • Ongoing supervision, feedback and development

Your training journey

From your first day to your hundredth shift — here's how we build great support workers.

1

Induction

Who we support, how we work, the NDIS Code of Conduct, and what good looks like at Asina.

2

Shadow shifts

Work alongside experienced workers with real participants before you go solo.

3

Solo, with support

Your own shifts and participants — with leadership a phone call away, always.

4

Keep growing

Ongoing supervision, feedback and new modules as your skills and classification grow.

What the Academy covers

The core modules every Asina worker goes through — with more added as the team grows.

The NDIS Code of Conduct

What it actually means on a real shift — not just a poster on a wall.

Person-centred practice

Supporting people's goals and choices, at their pace, their way.

Documentation & shift notes

Notes that families actually want to read — clear, respectful and useful.

Safe everyday support

Home safety, safe routines and knowing when to ask for help.

Communication & boundaries

Building real rapport while staying professional — the heart of the job.

Community access done well

Outings that build confidence and connection, not just fill hours.

What you'll need

To join the team, you'll need (or be willing to get):

  • NDIS Worker Screening Check
  • NDIS Worker Orientation Module — free, online, about 90 minutes.
  • Working With Children Check (WWCC)
  • National Police Check
  • First aid & CPR certificate (HLTAID011 or equivalent)
  • Driver's licence and a reliable vehicle
  • The right to work in Australia

Experience helps — but attitude comes first. If you genuinely care and you're willing to learn, we want to hear from you.
